Gina Norman, CASD
Gina is accepting new directees.
Hi, I'm Gina, and I've been a Spiritual Director for four years. I graduated from San Francisco Theological Seminary with a certification in the art of spiritual direction. For ten years I worked as a trained counselor before becoming a spiritual director. I still love being a counselor but I felt drawn to spiritual direction because when I was going through a painful time in my life, contemplation and the mystics saved me. Experiencing Spiritual Direction myself has helped me hear myself more clearly and move into a direction that feels like my authentic self and lines up with my values and love.
Some folks have said time spent with me is like being on a retreat. I listen deeply, with empathy and compassion. I'm more concerned about the questioner than the questions themselves. Somehow beauty unfolds and my directees/clients end up with the answers they are looking for! We all have insight within us, we just need a little guidance to get there. I've spent a lot of my time with the LGBTQIA and BIPOC communities. That said, I've taken classes on white women learning about racism, and I am strong in anti-racist work.
A few unique offerings I have are: I create personal tailored examens or spiritual debriefs. Folks have found these tools very beneficial in processing and reflecting on their lives or a specific situation they're going through.
I also love facilitating groups, so if you find yourself in need for a Reflective Listening Circle, I'd love to help! It might also be important to note that my practice is trauma-informed.
If I'm not working I find a lot of wisdom in the practice of visio divina, spending time with my little bichon-poo Benson, art, nature, and writing. I'm also a coffee snob!
I moved to Minneapolis a year ago from Oakland, California, where my grown daughter currently resides. I'm a young empty-nester and love exploring and traveling with my partner, Kevin. I currently have my own Spiritual Direction practice In Good Company.
I want folks to know they are worth listening to, and that they can feel like they are in good company with themselves, others, and God.
This is my life's mission because I rarely felt like I was ever in good company.
