Meet Mary Weddle

Mary is accepting new directees.

As a spiritual director, I strive to gently hold open the space where those I companion can freely explore doubts, yearnings, insights, fears, passions and joys. I welcome seekers at all phases of spiritual exploration who may or may not identify with a particular faith tradition, but who wish to attune to and nurture the sacred – however named or unnamed – in the ordinary, and not-so-ordinary events of their lives.

I completed formation as a spiritual director through Sacred Ground Center for Spirituality in St Paul. I meet monthly with a group of spiritual directors for peer supervision. As an accredited instructor of Tai Chi Chih, I enjoy sharing this gentle, non-martial, meditative wellness practice with others.  I take pleasure in cooking, spending time outdoors, and walking.  I graduated from St Olaf College with a degree in music and went on to teach in the music department at Luther College for five years before becoming a physical therapist.  I retired after teaching for 21 years in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at St. Catherine University.

I am a member of the Contemplative Body of the Episcopal House of Prayer. My contemplative faith is informed by the Christian Wisdom tradition and the teachings of Thomas Keating, Martin Laird, and Richard Rohr.  Ignatian and Twelve-Step spirituality and Buddhism are also formative for me. My spiritual practices include meditation/Centering Prayer, T’ai Chi Chih, contemplative evening worship at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in St Paul and attending retreats at the Episcopal House of Prayer.

I provide spiritual direction virtually and in my home in south Minneapolis.
